The refurbishing of the former jesuit school “Les Feuillants” will host the new courthouse for Poitiers. This operation will bring criminal and appeal court, labor relation board, distric and county court under one roof. They are now scattered in five different area.
Acoustics is an important problematic in law courts. Comprehensibility in courtroom and confidentiality between the different areas are the main aspects to consider.
Natural light is the main concern regarding this project. The semi-burried extension will include, inter alia, the courtrooms and the lobby. Day light will be favored. Skylights will offer a zenithal light. Almost all of the rooms will benefit from natural light, direct or with borrowed light.
